About
I’m Joey, a Lebanese creator whose journey began in the heart of Lebanon and brought me to the vibrant city of Montréal when I was just 18. Here, I’ve discovered that my culture isn’t something to leave behind, it’s something to seek, to breathe in, and to find in every corner of this new world. It lives in the people, the art, the colours, and in every fleeting moment of sunlight that dances on my beads.
Mzayyanin is a tribute to my mother, Zeina, a name that means “decoration” in Arabic, and a reflection of the beauty I carry from her and from the land I come from. Since 2021, Mzayyanin has been my creative home, where I’ve explored various mediums, from candles and clay to silversmithing. But for the past two years, it’s been the world of beads that has captured my soul.
There is something magical about beads: how they shimmer and shine in the sunlight, how each one holds the potential to create a new pattern, a new story. Every design I create is born from my love for the intricate, the delicate, and the radiant. Through trial and error, I’ve found my own voice in beadwork, crafting each piece by hand with a deep connection to my Arab culture and heritage.
From the ancient traditions of Lebanon to the vibrant energy of Montréal, my pieces tell stories of home, of beauty, of resilience, and of the timeless allure of adornment. Every bead, every pattern, is a piece of me, a piece of my journey. And with each creation, I hope to share that story with you.
